The Big Scoop

So imagine you've won £161 million (in a non-gambling, non-haram way if you will). What you do with so much money? I mean, I would be set for life...

I would keep it on the down low, keep it all hush hush and still act like a broke uni student ;). Meanwhile, I would pay off my parents mortgage, move them to a nice neighbourhood and give them anything they wanted. Then I would give a generous slice of my millions to my brothers and sister, hoping they would be set for life too. Then I would get me a travelling buddy husband and we would go backpacking around the world together, spreading joy and wonder wherever we went (kind of like a mod Mary Poppins). After the fun of freedom has worn off, I would carry on with my university education while hoarding those material things that I could never afford right now. Then I would give money to my uncles and aunties, and their cousins, and my cousins, and their children. But not to Uncle Iqbal*, because last time I remember they cheated my parents. And I would have to give more to Auntie Shemim* because her cause is greater... or was that Auntie Saira. Wait, what has Auntie Saira done for us?

And then, I would wish that I never got the £161 million when I realise what a great responsibility it is to have that much money. Is messing up families ties and showing off the latest and greatest to your friends really worth all that extra burden?

Alhamdulilah, I'm happy with the now because there are more important things to dwell on than wealth.
